Paris Street Style

Outfit Details:

Dress Stay Fierce Boutique | Booties Lucky Brand

There are few places better to look to for fashion inspiration then Paris. This summer we strolled the streets and gazed at the people walking past and all their unique styles. There is so much creative inspiration in Paris it's hard to leave and not be inspired. On this trip, we brought along a lot of cute summer dresses in hopes that the weather would be warm. Unfortunately, most days it was windy and rainy, but it's Paris so who can complain. Plus it made each minute of warm weather even sweeter. One evening when it was nice out we dressed up went out to dinner. Ivy wore this super adorable dress by Stay Fierce Boutique. This dress went well with the overcast sky and the Parisian architecture. It is also perfect for fall and Ivy has worn it numerous times.

Stay Fierce Boutique has so many cute dresses, jumpsuits, rompers, and tops to choose from! We ended up ordering more for our fall wardrobe (we will post on these soon). We love their trendy clothes and how affordable they are. All of their clothing is under $35!

Use our promo code IVYEVE15 at checkout for an additional 15% off your purchase!! That makes everything under $30!

Happy shopping!

Thinking Pink

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One in eight women in the Unite States is diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Virtually everyone has been affected by this disease. Our Grandmother and Aunt both had Breast Cancer and we eventually lost both of those amazing women to cancer. Recently, our doctor recommended we get tested for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations. These mutations are linked to a high risk of Breast, Ovarian, and other cancers. Since two women on our Dad's side of our family had gotten Breast Cancer, our Dad got tested first. He came out positive meaning we had a 50/50 chance of carrying the same gene mutations as well. We took the test as well and both came out positive for BRCA2. We have a 45% chance of having Breast Cancer and 17% chance of having Ovarian Cancer. Luckily, since testing positive, we are able to seek genetic counseling to understand our risk and what we can do to stay on top of it. Knowledge is power and we are glad we found out and we can support each other.

We recommend all women to visit BrightPink.org. This site is super informative, upbeat, and well...pink! You can find out your Breast and Ovarian cancer risk with their risk assessment here. You can also find info on how to donate, peer-to-peer counseling, and so much more.

This month, we won these adorable hand stamped pink ribbon necklaces from Mignon Mignon. We picked the rose gold to represent the pink ribbon for breast cancer. We love them so much and have been wearing them almost everyday since we received them! Mignon Mignon also does personalized initials, zodiac signs, coordinates and more! Did we mention that they are all super affordable? We think these would make perfect gifts for anyone and any occasion. We know where we're doing our christmas shopping this year!

Cozy Fall Favorites

Stores everywhere are stocking their shelves with cozy socks, warm scarves, winter boots, and cute hats to prepare us for the chilly autumn air. We decided to share with you a few of our favorite new finds.

We found these cute and cozy marled knit crew socks at Forever 21 for just $5!!! Naturally, we had to get them. You can never have too many socks. This pretty blanket scarf was a major steal we picked it up in the Target dollar spot for just $7. We ended up buying three different colors and buying some as little gifts for our friends. We seriously love them (not sold online-similar here). Hurry to your Target to get one...or two yourself! This fun ASOS fur bobble hat is trending right now and we think it's perfect for autumnal walks in the changing leaves. The last item is the ultra classic L.L. Bean Boot. We always loved the classic style of these boots and finally decided to test them out for ourselves. Ivy can't wait to wear these when we visit our family cabin in Montana this fall! They are cute and functional which we love!

Halloween Invitations: CarnEvil Theme

We love Halloween. No, like we LOVE Halloween. It has been one of our favorite holidays since we were kids. Thinking up our costumes, decorating our house, watching It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and of course trick-or-treating were just some of our favorite activities of the season.

Getting older, we still love Halloween just as much, we just celebrate the it in a different way. Unfortunately, we do not live in a neighborhood that gets any trick-or-treaters. Our first Halloween in our new house, we sat by the door with a bucket of candy waiting for kids to ring our bell. No one came. We decided the next year to throw our own party (which you can't really do if you are constantly on the lookout for trick-or-treaters)! Last year, we threw the greatest "traditional" Halloween party we could think of. We had potions and poisons, witches, ghosts and the like.

Since we have to one-up last year's party, we have been planning since the beginning of August.

Last year, we spent most of our time making the food and drinks as elaborate and creepy as possible. While that was a lot of fun to plan, it didn't leave much time to actually enjoy our own party. This year our priority is to throw the greatest Halloween party as possible, but actually be able to enjoy it ourselves. This is when one of us thought up the fantastic idea to throw a carnival themed party. With this theme, we will spend a lot of time making props and decoration and much less time in the kitchen on the night.

We will share more details closer to the actual party date, but we wanted to share our party invites to get you in the spirit!

A Trip to The Pumpkin Patch

Outfit Details:

Plaid Shirt Target | Jeans Uniqlo | Vest Le Tote | Chelsea Boots ASOS | Cascade Earrings Kate Spade | Clutch Imoshion

Visiting a pumpkin patch in October is one of our favorite things to do. One of our favorite places to visit is Earthbound Farm's Farm Stand which has pumpkins in every color, shape, and size imaginable! We like visiting this market and cafe all year round, but we love it during the fall when they fill the grounds with pretty pumpkins, corn stalks, and other autumnal decorations. Ivy wore a warm quilted vest, and plaid shirt for this trip. She paired it with this super cute clutch from one of our new favorite brands, Imoshion. We love this brand because we are big animal lovers and Imoshion only features vegan leather bags. Although its not real leather its almost identical in look and feel! We also love that all their bags have pretty fabric lining and tons of pockets to stash our lipsitck, glasses, and other goodies. Did we mention that all of their bags are less than $50?!?! Definitely keep this brand on your radar! Previously, we have shared some of their other great bags here, and here, and here

Moss Green Dress for Fall

Outfit Details:

Dress Noir Le Tote | Necklace Jessica Simpson (similar here)| Purse Jessica Simpson Le Tote | Sandals Sam & Libby

Here in California, the beginning of fall is still pretty warm. We can still wear dresses without jackets and heeled sandals instead of boots. Although we can't wait for cooler weather, we still enjoy that we can sit outside and have a glass of wine without turning on the outdoor heat lamps. Last weekend had perfect weather for wearing a knit dress and drinking wine at one of our favorite hotel bars at The La Playa Hotel. We sipped on crisp dry sauvignon blanc and watched the sun start to set.

FabFitFun Subscription Box Review + $10 Coupon

FabFitFun is a quarterly shipped subscription box filled with the season's hottest beauty, wellness, fitness, and fashion products. Each box costs $49.99 and is packed with the season's hottest products (worth AT LEAST $100). Eve has subscribed to this box for a year now and each season, the boxes keep getting better and better!

What we love about FabFitFun boxes is that you get a little bit of everything you would want/need for the season ahead. We love that the boxes ship just as the season starts so you have 3 whole months to enjoy them before the weather changes. For winter, each box had a pair of cozy fingerless gloves. Spring had an amazing contouring kit. Summer came with a beach tote to cary your summer essentials.

We think the Fall 2016 box was the best yet! The first thing we noticed when we opened the box was that it was PACKED! Usually you get a lot of items in each box but this box was bulging and had extra tape to keep the box shut. Once we opened it, we were instantly in the fall spirit!

We have broken the box down into separate categories: Style, Beauty, Fitness, Lifestyle, and Extras.

Style:

We LOVE ModCloth. They have such great quality, slightly quirky clothing (think Anthropologie's hip younger sister). We were very happy to receive this blanket scarf in our box. We see us wearing it with pretty much everything this season. Plus, it is so big, it can double as a pretty airplane/travel blanket!

Mod Cloth Loch and Scarf in Taupe Plaid (one of 4 colors) worth $34.

Beauty:

This box was heavy on the beauty products. We especially LOVE the nude eyeshadow palette. The colors are beautiful and the shadows are super blendable.

Pure Cosmetics Nude Collection Eyeshadow Palette worth $50.

Spongellé Bulgarian Rose Limited Edition Buffer worth $16.

Mullein & Sparrow French Lavender Body Oil worth $18.

Skin Laundry Restoring Night Face Serum worth $50.

The BrowGal Clear Eyebrow Gel worth $20.

Fitness:

These socks are perfect for yoga. Our feet are always slipping and sliding on our mats so these are a perfect solution!

ToeSox Half Toe Ankle Grip Socks in Fuschia worth $15.

Lifestyle:

Adult coloring books are all the rage right now. We aren't super into them (we have a hard time coloring inside the lines!) but this would make a cute little gift for one of our more "mindful" besties. The tumbler however, is Eve's new favorite morning accessory. She fills it with her favorite Iced Coffee and heads to work every morning.

FabFitFun Coloring Book and Pencils worth $16.

The Created Co. Tumbler (one of 2 options) worth $19.

Extras:

Each box comes with a few sponsored bonus items. This season, the samples are really great. Most of the time you get tiny one use makeup samples or coupons but this time, We got two travel sized items! We love Secret deodorants and this one is extra long lasting (48 hours). The wipes are perfect for keeping in your car to clean your hands/etc. on the go (as well as using them for the more obvious reasons).

Secret Outlast XTEND Clear Gel Deodorant .5oz.

Cottonelle Fresh Care Wipes 42 count. with two coupons.

The total worth for this box was $238!

We totally recommend the FabFitFun subscription box because it has a bit of everything a girl wants for such a great price point. It ships 4 times a year too so it really feels like a treat when you get it in the mail. We already bought a few extras to give as gifts.

If you would like to try FabFitFun, use this code http://xo.fff.me/elM_B for $10 off your first box (that means ALL of this for only $39.99).

Fall To Do List + Free Printable

Today is the first day of autumn! This year, we are more excited than ever for the drop in temperature and increase in all things pumpkin!

We have put together a to do list for ourselves this year and want to share it with you all. Together we can check each one off!

Visit a pumpkin patch

This is a quintessential fall thing to do. I mean, how else are you going to get pumpkins for carving? We love visiting pumpkin patches because it is so much more festive then just picking some up at the grocery store.

Bake an apple pie

Fall is apple picking season so baking an apple pie is basically a necessity. There is almost nothing better then a homemade apple pie (ok, champagne is pretty great too)!

Carve pumpkins

Carving pumpkins is not just for kids! We still love designing ours each year for our entryway for Halloween. Plus you can save all those seeds for roasting (yum!) or planting for the next year!

Take a walk to enjoy the changing leaves

The changing leaves are one of our favorite things about fall. In college, we both lived in places that had crazy beautiful trees changing colors in the fall. California is not the best place to see fall colors but it makes it all the more exciting when you do spot a tree or two with changing leaves! We like spending time each autumn to take a walk in the crisp air and gaze at all the colors around us.

Plant spring bulbs

Ivy is a master gardener (its what she does for her day job) so she loves spring bulbs. She delights in the thought of fall and planting her spring blooming bulbs.

Buy a fall scented candle

Fall scented candles are the best candles. There are so many yummy scents to choose from... pumpkin pie, cranberry woods, autumn, sweater weather and so many more.

Take out your plaid shirts

We love plaid flannel shirts...or anything plaid! Here is one we are crushing on right now!

Test out a new pumpkin recipe

There are so many yummy pumpkin recipes we love making this time of year. We have already shared with you our Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe here, and will be sharing with you more later this fall.

Knit a hat or scarf

Fall mornings and nights can be chilly so you need something to keep you toasty warm. Learn to knit with this kit or that kit from We Are Knitters!

Treat yourself to new fuzzy socks

There is nothing better then putting on new fuzzy warm socks when your feet are cold! Cozying up by a warm fire is optional, but totally recommended!

Make a list of things you are thankful for

Making a list of everything you are grateful for each year is a great thing to do. When you think about all the great things in your life, the not so awesome stuff always seems to disappear.

Here is our little printable fall to-do list! (click here) Print it out and check things off throughout the season!

DIY De-stress Shower & Bath Tablets

It's that time of year again when kids go back to school, friends leave for college, and worst of all...summer vacations have ended. With all of these changes comes a little stress. Whether it be making sure your kids get to school on time, starting new college courses, or no vacation days till Thanksgiving, this time of year can stress you anyone out. Take a deep breath and relax...it's all going to be okay!

We started feeling this a few weeks ago when everything, work, events, and even planning blog posts started building up. So we decided to make some de-stress shower & bath tablets do help us decompress after each day. These little (but potent) lavender tablets smell amazing and help us remember to relax while showering or soaking in a nice warm bath. Just plop one or two in the bottom of the shower or tub when you get in and breathe in the calming lavender & chamomile essence.

xxx Ivy & Eve

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tbsp dried chamomile flowers & leaves or chamomile tea bags
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup water (may use less)
  • 10 or so mini baking tins (ice cube trays work well too)
  • Lavender essential oil (you will only need a few drops to your preference, we use doTerra)

Directions:

  1. Preheat over to 350 F

  2. Take chamomile and lavender and grind together with a mortar and pestle.

  3. Mix the lavender & chamomile with baking soda in a bowl.

  4. Pour in water (add slowly, you want it just slightly moist so it will stick together but the consistency is not runny at all).

  5. Bake in the oven for 2 minutes, they may be slightly damp still thats ok. (Our tins are tiny so depending on the size of tins you use you may need to bake longer. Don't bake too long or they brown on the tops & bottoms, which is okay just not as pretty).

  6. Let cool they will continue to dry during this step.

  7.  Once cooled, add the essential oil. (We dipped the paint brush into the essential oil and applied to the tablets since doTerra oils are very concentrated & come out quickly).

  8. Let dry again before popping them out of the tins.

Farewell Summer

Outfit Details:

Dress Octavia Le Tote | Shoes Sam and Libby Target | Necklace Gorjana Le Tote | Purse Sondra Roberts Le Tote

It's starting to cool down here in Carmel Valley. Although "Fall" weather here is still about a month away, we are finally starting to get in the mood. Over the weekend we decided to grab a quick snack at one of our favorite spots in the Village, Corkscrew Cafe. We sipped on bubbly rosé and nibbled on roasted garlic and toasted bread. Ivy wore this lovely plum colored dress as she transitions her wardrobe from bright colors of summer to autumnal gem hues.

THEIT Colt Camera Bag & GIVEAWAY!

GIVEAWAY CLOSED

Ivy:

When I was little I fell in love with photography. I loved the way you could capture moments and frame feelings within an image forever. I have always loved art. I painted, and drew throughout my childhood and young adult years but that never gave me the same feeling photography gives me. When I take a great photo I get really excited and it inspires me to keep going.

When I received my camera I also received a camera bag. The camera bag did its job saving it numerous times from breaking when I dropped it, but it was really unattractive. When I got older, I started leaving it behind and just carrying the camera in my hand or worse, putting it in the bag I was using. Eventually, I broke a lens doing this. I just hated how ugly and bulky the camera bag was while still not having enough room for my other essentials like my phone or wallet. I honestly stopped using my camera as often and just started using my iPhone more and more. But that was all about to change....

A few years ago when I was in college, Eve's friend got a camera bag called THEIT Bossi Bag (not available anymore). I remember Eve telling me about it and I gushed over it on THEIT website, but being a poor college student I had no way to pay for it without feeling guilty. It wasn't until this spring that I remembered the camera bag I had desperately wanted. With our blog just starting up I decided I would definitely be using my DSLR camera often and that I really needed to have a camera bag I would use and love. So I took the plunge and bought THEIT Colt bag before our trip to Europe.

As soon as I held  the bag in my hands I fell head over heels for it. I was really impressed with its packaging because there was so much protective tape around everything insuring it wouldn't get scratched or damaged I almost didn't want to take some of it off because I was afraid of scratching its perfect surfaces. Soon I would come to find that this bag is made of tough stuff.

THEIT Colt bag is made of navy saffiano leather which is smooth and virtually scratch and waterproof. On our trip to France and England it rained everyday and many times I would end up soaking wet and the bag and all its contents would be dry as a bone! The bag has beautiful golden detailing which I love because I tend to go with gold jewelry over silver. One of the best things about this bag is the strap(s). The bag comes with TWO! The one I use most often is all leather, with adjustable straps and a neoprene shoulder pad for added comfort. The other also has the neoprene shoulder strap but has a gold chain. The gold chain instantly adds a lux look to the bag but still with the comfort from the shoulder pad. The bag also has a front pocket which I found very useful for storing my iPhone 6.

The inside of the bag is lined with padded material and comes with 2 removable (padded) inserts to secure your camera gear so they don't rattle around. Although the bag itself it relatively small compared to any other camera bag around, it still fits a good amount of things inside it. On my trip I carried  chapstick, sunglasses, my favorite lipstick, a RxBar in case I got hungry, my iPhone, extra charger, bandaids, my wallet, and my camera all inside. Recently I even tested how many 187ml (mini) champagne bottles could fit in it: 4 comfortably. You never know when you may need a little bubbly!

This bag has honestly been one of my best investments in a long time and I would highly recommend it to all the women out there who love photography and style. This bag combines functionality with a timeless design that will last many years.

Over the last few weeks Eve and I have been lucky enough to get in contact with Nicole the founder of THEIT brand. After talking to her about the bag and our travels she offered to do a $150 gift card giveaway for the readers of Hello Ivy & Eve! Their bags range from $159-$329 (so that means you can get a bag for as little as $9!!). We were so excited for this opportunity to sharing our love for this bag and THEIT company. We hope you think this bag is amazing too! To enter the giveaway simply follow the steps below:

  1. Subscribe to Hello Ivy & Eve

  2. Follow us on Instagram or like us on Facebook (or both!)

Eve's Outfit Details:

Top Oysho | Jeans Uniqlo | Necklace Jason's Art Gallery | Bag Louis Vuitton | Shoes Target Sam & Libby

A few weeks back we attended the Joyce Vineyard Winery Party. Some of you asked for style details so here it is! This was a daytime event we went for California casual looks, but since the winery tends to stay cool we wore jeans to keep us a tad bit warmer than your usual summer cut offs (which would equally go well with both of these tops).

Stripes in The Vines

Outfit Details:

Dress CeCe  | Shoes Prabal Gurung for Target (sold out similar here and here) | Bracelet BCBCGENERATION Le Tote | Lipstick Maybelline Superstay 24 in Always Blazing

This past weekend Ivy attended her friend Casey Frazier's new album "American Exotic" release party at Folktale Winery & Vineyard. This was an evening event pouring Folktale wines with a cart set up for all-you-can-eat tacos! Ivy wore this cute black and white striped dress and paired it with cherry red heels and red lips. The dress has small cutouts on the sides giving this classic look a twist.

Ivy paired her outfit with one of her favorite red lipsticks from Maybelline's line, Superstay 24. Superstay 24 are our go-to lipsticks for events, especially ones where we will be eating and drinking a lot. First apply the liquid lipstick color and let it dry for 2 minutes. Then apply the moisturizing balm and you're good to go! It does't come off on wine glasses and you don't have to check the mirror every 5 minutes to reapply. Plus they have so many amazing colors!

The music was great and the weather couldn't have been better. To preview/purchase some of Casey's music click here. American Exotic will be available soon!

Note: No lipstick marks!!                                                                                                                                                   Purse ASOS (similar here)

Red Jumpsuit for Summer

Outfit Details:

Jumpsuit 1 State Le Tote | Booties Steve Madden | Backpack Kenneth Cole Le Tote | Lipstick Maybelline in Always Blazing

Red has been a color Ivy loves to wear for a while, and yes part of it may have been because of Taylor Swifts album Red, but it also complements her fair skin. This jumpsuit is fun since it is a little different than any other jumpsuit we own, it is loose on the bottom and cropped above the ankle. The bodice is reminiscent of a tube top. Ivy paired it with this cute minimalist backpack and booties to not distract from the jumpsuit. Red is a perfect color for all seasons, but we think this look would be the perfect pop of color for a summer bbq in the park.

Bohemian Summer

Outfit Details:

Dress Revolve | Necklace Clement | Bracelet Lucky Brand Le Tote

Its been two weeks since the Soberanes Big Sur fire broke out in our hometown, and the smoke has been intense. Although it creates a pretty orange glow to the light and sky, the air quality isn't healthy. We were planning for a weekend laying by the pool but with the air being so smokey we decided to do a little wine tasting (surprise surprise). Ivy wore this luxe bohemian dress that went well with the smokey hews in the valley. She paired her dress with some silver and turquoise jewelry to add to the casual boho look. The brand of this dress is "The Jetset Diaries" because the clothing line is suppose to be quintessential to any jet-setter's wardrobe...and we agree! The material is light, breathable and perfect for long summer days, yet chic enough to wear from day into night. What's even better is its on SALE right now! If you have Le Tote you can get it on sale here or head over to Revolve here to get your own!

Chambray for Summer!

Ivy's Outfit Details:

Dress Sanctuary | Duster Cardigan Three Dots | Purse Octavia & Co. | Booties (similar) | Necklace Octavia & Co.

Eve's Outfit Details:

Jumpsuit (similar here and here) | Bra Victoria's Secret | Sandals Sam Edelman | Clutch (similar) | Sunglasses Ray-Ban | Bracelet Tribe Alive

Chambray fabric was made for summer. Its the perfect fabric to wear when you (like us) love denim but it's too hot outside to wear.  Whether you are looking for something to keep you cool, or need a light extra layer (we love layering chambray button ups with summery dresses), chambray will do the trick. Eve and I decided to go out for a casual Sunday glass of wine at Cowgirl Winery in Carmel Valley last weekend. The weather was nice but there was a bit of a breeze so I picked a long yet thin cardigan to go over my chambray dress. We love layering a long cardigan with a short and sassy dress. ;) This dress is perfect for a casual day look, and perfect as a beach coverup. Eve wore a chambray romper that opens in the back. She paired it with a fun strappy bra. This romper is perfect for a day to night look in the summer when the evenings get a little chilly. Dress it up with strappy heels for summer going out look.

Denim and Blush

Outfit Details:

Jacket Cupcakes and Cashmere Le Tote | Skirt KUT from the Kloth Le Tote | T-Shirt Target | Shoes Target | Bag Sondra Roberts Le Tote | Bracelet Clement Le Tote | Rings Forever 21 (similar)| Watch Timex

Ivy has been using Le Tote for almost 4 full months and is OBSESSED with it. There are so many trending items on the site we love and are excited to try. The best thing about Le Tote is you can try an item and send it back after wearing it once or as many times as you'd like in a month before deciding if you want to buy it (for a discounted Le Tote price) or send it back. This is perfect for women trying to find new pieces to add to their wardrobe and for those who just love having a change of clothes without the full cost. It's like having an awesome roommate who lets you borrow her clothes (plus you don't have to stress about getting it back quick and clean)! It only cost $59 a month for unlimited boxes. Each box comes with 3 garments and 2 accessories. Ivy usually goes through around 4 boxes a month so that equals 12 pieces of clothing and 8 accessories to test out a month. How cool is that?!?

From this week's box, Ivy picked a light weight jacket, and this trendy denim skirt (note: the skirt runs big so go a whole size smaller then normal). Ivy has a zip front suede skirt similar to this denim skirt seen here, but she really wanted to get her hands on a denim skirt without having to commit to it before trying it out. She paired these bold pieces with a simple loose boyfriend t-shirt to make it a more casual look.

Plum Picking Perfect!

Outfit Details:

Dress Anne Klein | Watch Timex | Ring Macy's (similar) | Lipstick Maybelline | Hair created with Bed Head Wand

Almost every June, Ivy housesits for one of her oldest friends. It's always a treat to stay at their home  because they have a beautiful estate with rose gardens, lemon trees (literally about to break with the weight of the huge lemons) and one big plum tree also about to break from the bountiful crop. This year was perfect timing. Ivy picked several bags of plums and enjoyed plumb crumble with some and made the rest into plum jam. It was a hot day, so Ivy picked out this vintage style dress with polkadots to wear as she walked around in the grass picking sweet plums. What a perfect summer day!

Springtime Stripes & Polkadots!

Outfit Details:

Bralette Topshop (similar here and here) | Skirt Glamorous Le Tote | Heels New Look (similar here) | Bag Imoshion  | Key Necklace Tiffany's | Sunglasses Forever 21 (similar) | Hat Urban Outfitters (similar) | Ring Bling Jewlery

This past weekend was a whirlwind of graduation and birthday parities. Ivy felt like dressing a little glamorous this weekend and showing a little skin. She paired this adorable striped skirt with a velvet bralette. To play with patterns she used this cute polkadot bag to carry her gifts and everyday essentials. We think the patterns go so well together! She threw on some cat eye sunnies and a big floppy hat for some added mystery as we walked around town doing errands between events. Sometimes its fun to be a little over dressed!
